Kia has officially unveiled a heavily redesigned 2027 Telluride, marking one of the most significant updates in the model’s history. After years of success as one of Kia’s flagship three-row SUVs, the new-generation Telluride arrives with a bold design overhaul, new powertrains, and a stronger push toward efficiency and electrification.
The most notable change is the complete departure from the long-running V6 engine. In its place, Kia now offers a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 274 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. While smaller in displacement, the turbocharged unit delivers stronger low-end torque, improving everyday drivability and towing performance, with a maximum towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds on properly equipped models.

For the first time, the Telluride also gains a hybrid option. The new 2.5-litre turbo-hybrid powertrain combines an electric motor and a compact battery pack to deliver a total of 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Kia estimates a combined fuel economy of approximately 35 mpg, along with a driving range of up to 600 miles. The hybrid variant uses a 6-speed automatic transmission and supports both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, with a towing capacity of up to 4,500 pounds.
Beyond the engines, the 2027 Telluride has grown in size. A longer wheelbase improves interior space, especially for second- and third-row passengers, while certain trims, such as the off-road-focused X-Pro, now offer up to 9.1 inches of ground clearance. Off-road capability has also been enhanced through features such as an electronic limited-slip differential and a centre differential lock on select trims.
Inside, the Telluride receives a ground-up interior redesign. The new cabin features a modern dual-screen layout, a centre-mounted climate control panel, and elevated material choices across upper trims. Buyers can now expect real wood and metal accents, expanded ambient lighting options, and available Nappa leather upholstery on luxury variants. Kia has focused heavily on improving both comfort and perceived quality, bringing the interior closer to premium SUV territory.

The exterior styling has also evolved. The new Telluride adopts a more refined and upright silhouette, incorporating sharper LED lighting signatures, a larger and more assertive front grille, new wheel designs, and updated colour options. The rear design has shifted toward a more squared, premium look, subtly echoing the visual confidence of luxury-brand SUVs.
Kia is expected to fully reveal the production model and detailed trim structure during its official unveiling, with further market information – including pricing and regional availability – to follow closer to launch.
With the 2027 Telluride, Kia is clearly repositioning the model for a future defined by efficiency, technology, and elevated design, while still preserving the practicality and capability that made the SUV one of the most competitive options in its segment.
