GCC Nears Launch of Unified Traffic Violation System

Unified Traffic Violation System

News

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is close to completing a unified traffic violation system that will link all member states under a single enforcement framework. According to GCC Secretary General HE Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the project is now 95% finished and will soon allow traffic violations committed in any GCC country to be instantly shared and enforced in the driver’s home nation.

This means a Qatari driver fined in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, or Oman will see the penalty registered and payable as if it occurred on Qatari roads. The system aims to improve road safety, reduce repeat offenses across borders, and ensure consistency in applying traffic laws throughout the region.

Albudaiwi emphasized that the platform will exchange data in real time, eliminating loopholes previously used by drivers who committed violations outside their home country. Work is also underway to introduce priority services that cater to the needs of both citizens and residents, further streamlining enforcement.

Once operational, the GCC will see a new level of integration on its roads — a shift that makes cross-border driving more accountable and uniform than ever before.
