Tesla & Mercedes Talking About Electric Van Collaboration

13 Feb 2019

Tesla and Mercedes-Benz have been holding ‘talks’ about a possible new collaboration, according to tweet made by Tesla CEO Elon Musk via twitter this week.

Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, later announced that there was a real thinking to work out a cooperation agreement with Tesla in Sprinter Electric Van.

Zetsche also said that it's possible Tesla could be interested in using Mercedes' electric vans for its mobile service fleet used by the unit of Tesla employees that the company deploys to repair issues with its vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces.

Tesla was first using gas-powered vans for the fleet, but it has now been modifying Model S and Model X vehicles in order to make its mobile service electric.

Tesla supplied the electric powertrains for the first generation electric Smart cars and electric Mercedes-Benz B-Class. Yet that was when Daimler was actually a Tesla shareholder.
